Nuclear Safety Analysis Manager – Fusion Programme | USA

This is where safety meets breakthrough technology.

We’re supporting a next-generation nuclear company pushing fusion and advanced nuclear systems toward commercial reality. They’re now looking for a Nuclear Safety Analysis Manager to lead the team responsible for protecting the design, the licence, and ultimately the future operation of a first-of-a-kind facility.

If you’ve ever wanted to lead safety for something genuinely cutting-edge — not legacy, not incremental — this is it.

The Role

You’ll sit within the engineering leadership team, guiding a specialist safety analysis group responsible for radiological safety, chemical safety, criticality safety, and fire hazard analysis.

This is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll shape hazard evaluations, influence design optimisation, support NRC engagement, and ensure the safety case remains robust as the project moves forward.

What You’ll Own
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of safety and analysis engineers
  • Develop and maintain process hazard analyses including HAZOPs and FMEAs
  • Own and maintain the facility Safety Analysis
  • Oversee the Criticality Safety Program, including training and qualification
  • Direct radiological and chemical dose consequence analysis for normal and off-normal events
  • Oversee fire hazard and nuclear criticality evaluations
  • Support NRC licensing activities, including RAI responses, audits, and public meetings
  • Manage group budget, schedule, and long-term resource planning
What They’re Looking For
  • Strong background in nuclear or chemical process safety analysis, including quantitative consequence analysis
  • Experience with hazard evaluation methodologies such as HAZOP and FMEA
  • Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 50 and/or 10 CFR Part 70 accident analysis
  • Knowledge of nuclear criticality safety standards and regulatory expectations
  • Management experience leading technical teams
  • Experience with MCNP is a plus
Why This Role

Leadership influence across engineering and licensing.

Direct impact on bringing advanced nuclear technology to market.

A rare opportunity to shape the safety case of a first-of-a-kind facility from the inside.

If you want to lead safety analysis on something that could genuinely redefine clean energy — this is the move.
