Why This Role Matters
Mission Hires is seeking a plant-level Safety and Environmental Specialist to lead and support safety initiatives and general environmental compliance at a 150-employee, non-union manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Division EHS Manager, this newly created role will shape safety performance and culture through relationship building, coaching, and accountability. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of plant safety experience, a BS in safety/environmental or related technical field, strong learning agility, and a passion for making an immediate impact on our safety journey.
HowYou'll Contribute
- Lead and support plant-level safety programs, initiatives, and daily activities
- Drive a proactive safety culture through relationship building, coaching, and accountability
- Support general environmental compliance activities and documentation
- Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and risks across operations
- Conduct inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses
- Track, analyze, and report safety and environmental performance metrics
- Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and communications
- Partner with plant leadership and frontline teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support policy/procedure development and continuous improvement of EHS systems
- Collaborate with the Division EHS Manager on strategy, priorities, and compliance needs
- Bachelor of Science in safety, environmental, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 3 years of plant-level safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience influencing safety culture and driving accountability
- Working knowledge of general environmental compliance requirements
- Proven ability to conduct incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the plant
- Data-driven approach with experience tracking and reporting EHS metrics
- Highly motivated, fast learner, and eager to make an immediate impact
- Ability to work onsite at a 150-employee, non-union plant and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Eligibility to work in the United States
