What you will do

• Leverage simulation tools to support design, product innovation, and strategy for lead-acid and Li-ion batteries.
• Develop and mature electrochemical models using tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink, collecting product data, validating models, and establishing key performance indicators.
• Drive continuous process improvement by offering ideas and taking actions to enhance existing working processes.
• Interface with multifunctional teams to gather feedback that improves modeling and simulation tools.
• Manage multiple priorities with strong planning, organization, and time‑management skills.
• Maintain intellectual curiosity through continual learning and the creation of innovative modeling, simulation solutions, and product innovations.

• Develop multi‑physics models (electrochemical, thermal, mechanical) using COMSOL, ANSYS, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink to analyze how battery design parameters impact performance, lifespan, and safety.
• Design experiments and optimize parameters (e.g., diffusion coefficients, conductivity) to calibrate models, validate accuracy, and ensure confidence in predictions.
• Build simulation tools to evaluate customer‑specific performance requirements and support product design analysis, including simplified tools for customer engineering teams.
• Support battery management systems (BMS) by contributing to control algorithm development and integrating simulation insights.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define modeling requirements, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation for projects.
• Document and communicate model implementation, validation results, accuracy assessments, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

• PhD or master’s in Engineering or Science (Chemistry, Mechanical, Materials, Physics, etc.) with a strong focus on electrochemistry and modeling disciplines.
• +3–6 years of industrial modeling and simulation experience related to battery energy storage solutions.
• +5 years of electrochemical modeling and simulation project experience using commercial software such as COMSOL, Saber, ANSYS Fluent, or others.
• +5 years of software coding experience in Python or MATLAB.
• +5 years of project experience in parameter optimization techniques and statistical analysis.

• Experience in the automotive industry.
• Advanced knowledge of statistics and machine learning.
• Experience analyzing actual product failure mechanisms and resolving product quality, performance, and technical issues raised by external or internal customers.
• Knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, including handling complexity, variability, limitations, and opportunities in a production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical direction.
