As a Construction Engineer, you'll join our collaborative team providing our clients with award-winning engineering, construction management, and design-build project delivery. We are looking for a passionate Construction Engineer in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois who is driven by collaboration, exceeding expectations, and challenging the status quo. You'll provide construction engineering and inspection services on highway, roadway, bridge and other various infrastructure projects in the Milwaukee area, southeast Wisconsin and northeast/north central Illinois.

As part of our project team, the responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:

* Being the Inspector on WisDOT projects

* Documenting contractor progress and quantities completed

* Performing daily inspections to verify that the Contractor work is being completed in accordance with the contract documents

* Preparing daily construction reports that identify the contractor workforce, equipment, and activities, site visitors, and includes daily progress photos

* Reviewing contract plans, specifications, submittals and material information

* Keep the Project Leader or Resident Engineer informed of the Contractor's progress and activities.

* Reporting and documenting any field conditions that deviate from the Contract

* Utilizing contract documents to perform general monitoring and documentation of construction activities.

In this role you'll be part of a project team based in the Milwaukee area, surrounded by expert mentorship to help you thrive and opportunities to grow in your career. You'll communicate with members of the Jacobs team, client, and contractor and work together to mitigate or eliminate project risks. You'll be accountable for interacting with our construction sites, clients, and management to support the project team.

Here's what you'll need

* Minimum of 2 years of experience in roadway/highway, bridge, or general civil construction projects

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline

* Experience on WisDOT construction projects

* Ability to drive to/from project locations in southern Wisconsin and/or northern Illinois

* Working knowledge of construction engineering and document control

* Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook

* Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills

* Local to Milwaukee, WI or Chicago/Northern IL

Ideally, you'll also have:

* WisDOT HTCP Certifications for Portland Cement Concrete Technician and Nuclear Density Technician

* OSHA 10- or 30- hour training

* Engineer in Training-EIT certification

* Experience on Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) or Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) construction projects

* Ability and desire to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

* Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Micro Station, Civil3D and/or AutoCAD

The base salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $77,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
