You will work hands‑on with complex mechanical and utility systems that are essential to safe, reliable operations-while collaborating closely with maintenance, engineering, EHS, and external partners to ensure our sites operate efficiently, safely, and in full regulatory compliance.
The Role & Your Impact
This is a hands‑on, operational and technical role with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement. You will act as a key technical resource for site utilities and ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring high system uptime and compliance across multiple locations.
Your key responsibilities include:

* Serving as technical lead for ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and control systems.
* Leading and documenting Process Safety Management (PSM) and Ammonia PSM activities, including audits, PHAs, and mechanical integrity programs.
* Developing, executing, and improving preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mechanical utility systems.
* Leading and supporting utility‑related capital projects, energy efficiency initiatives, and sustainability improvements.
* Coordinating contractors and service providers across West Allis (primary) and New Berlin sites.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
To succeed in this role, you bring a strong technical foundation and a safety‑first mindset:
* Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a related field (or equivalent military technical experience). Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of experience working with industrial utilities, ammonia refrigeration, or mechanical systems.
* Hands‑on experience with HVAC, steam systems, compressed air, water distribution, and mechanical utilities.
* Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
* Solid understanding of mechanical integrity principles, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and service reports.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally with internal teams and external contractors.
Additional Skills & Interests We Value
While not required, the following are considered strong advantages:
* Level 3 Ammonia Operator certification.
* Experience conducting PSM audits, PHAs, and mechanical integrity inspections.
* Project management experience within utilities, facilities, or manufacturing environments.
* Experience supporting energy efficiency or sustainability initiatives.
* Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ASHRAE standards.

* Meaningful work that supports sustainable production and global impact.
* Opportunities to grow your technical expertise and take ownership of critical systems.
* Close collaboration with experienced professionals across maintenance, engineering, and EHS.
* A culture that values safety, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.

* Multi‑site support with occasional off‑site training and travel.
* Role may include being on‑call for emergency utility or refrigeration issues.
* Work environment includes industrial and factory settings with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and mechanical equipment.
