What We Need
The Senior Process Engineer is an important member of the Materials R&D group with responsibility for providing hands‑on process engineering expertise and leadership to new product development programs and product improvement initiatives. Primary focus includes all steps contained in melt extrusion processing (compounding and polymer extrusion). Responsibilities may also extend to supporting roll‑to‑roll coated products (compounding, web coating and handling, and slitting operations).
WhatYou'll Be Doing
- Perform process development and scale‑up activities in support of new product developments.
- Conduct process improvement initiatives and custom product developments while interfacing with floor production personnel and operations management in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Investigate product quality issues to identify root cause and establish corrective actions.
- Provide hands‑on engineering and operations support with a focus on developing standard operating procedures to institutionalize effective manufacturing practices.
- Support research projects that deliver business results through data‑driven decision making.
- Work within cross‑functional teams to enable new product development project success.
- Execute various project activities in support of a defined Stage Gate process.
- Design & execute experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance attributes of these technologies.
- Develop an understanding of process capability, design selection criteria, and/or structure‑property relationships for developed products.
- Actively research relevant intellectual property and support development of patentable inventions.
- Maintain proper documentation of technical and experimental activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering.
- Minimum relevant industrial product or process development experience: BS/MS +3, PhD +0.
- Exposure to DFSS tools such as design of experiments and statistical analysis.
- Ability to formulate a technical strategy to solve complex problems.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
