Facility Environmental Manager
Reporting to the Regional Environmental Compliance lead, the Facility Environmental Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing environmental tasks for Reworld sites in Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids, IA. This position drives effective internal management of Environmental programs to identify and prevent environmental incidents.
Position Responsibilities- Conduct and coordinate worker training governed by USEPA, state EPA, and other agencies.
- Perform critical employee onboarding and orientation duties.
- Investigate, report, and review findings from compliance near‑miss reports, facility inspections, environmental testing results, and other applicable sources.
- Ensure training on critical subject matter including HAZWOPER, DOT Hazardous Materials, SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Environmental Awareness, and client‑specific programs is completed.
- Perform external auditing as needed (disposal partner and client services) and internal auditing (field projects, truck terminals, wastewater treatment facilities).
- Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, inspectors, law enforcement, and the community.
- Ensure environmental compliance by interpreting and guiding, assisting with the preparation and ongoing maintenance of environmental licenses and permits, providing review of non‑routine reporting and communications, and conducting site audits and compliance reviews.
- Use knowledge of environmental practices and standards to analyze data and confirm standards are met.
- Develop workable strategies to mitigate or eliminate compliance risks and provide recommendations to the Director and/or business partners.
- Maintain membership affiliation and ongoing trainer education.
- Co‑administer Ideagen (environmental task/incident system), E Logs, fleet technologies, USEPA/OEPA site accounts, and database systems.
- Execute integration duties for new business unit acquisitions.
- Ensure corporate programs and procedures are understood and implemented at each facility.
- Collaborate with the regional compliance lead to complete incident reports and generate monthly statistics.
- Attend and teach training courses in the field for all relevant environmental tasks.
- Verify that Reworld remains up‑to‑date and current with local and federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, etc.) or a related degree; alternative: 10+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of Clean Water Act, SPCC, EPCRA, and RCRA requirements.
- Five years of experience as a safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance in the area of CWA, CAA, and/or RCRA standards.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal Regulations, OSHA regulations, and other consensus standards and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Knowledge of solid waste permitting requirements and related reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between business activities and relevant regulatory state, local, and federal requirements.
- Proven ability to use critical thinking skills and rigorous logic and methods to solve challenging issues with effective regulatory compliance solutions.

PayBase pay range for the primary location: $99,000.00 – $ USD.
