What You Will Contribute Make an Impact Through Hands‑On Testing and InnovationAt Badger Meter, we innovate at the intersection of water technology and data. As an Engineer I – Hydro Lab Test
, you’ll play a key role in validating the performance and reliability of products used by customers around the world.
This is an ideal early‑career opportunity for someone who enjoys working hands‑on with hardware, data, and automation – while building deep technical expertise in a collaborative engineering environment.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to design and execute test solutions, improve lab systems, and contribute to product development from concept through validation.
What You’ll Do- Perform performance and compliance testing on flow meters, sensors, and communication products.
- Support the design and development of test setups, control systems, and automated data acquisition tools.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to inform product performance and quality decisions.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and support existing lab equipment, hardware, and software systems.
- Assist in defining test plans, scope, and timelines for engineering projects.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project Management teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of lab capabilities and testing methods.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work both independently and within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
- Internship, co‑op, or 1–2 years of experience in engineering, testing, or lab environments.
- Exposure to programming or automation tools (e.g., Python, PLCs/Allen‑Bradley).
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, or lab testing equipment.
- Basic understanding of software development concepts and data analysis methods.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Curious and eager to learn through hands‑on experimentation.
- Proactive and comfortable taking ownership of tasks and projects.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines.
- Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
