Job Overview
The Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary Innovation team supporting a variety of medical technologies and solutions with an initial focus on new drug delivery systems.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Innovation, this is a technical position where the engineer will contribute significantly to exciting, high visibility projects and collaborations across the R&D portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct appropriate experiments (benchtop and in vivo) to characterize the performance of medical technologies, including protocol and novel method development.
- Provide technical direction to advance medical device design including ideation, prototype development, and bench/in vivo evaluations.
- Conduct data and statistical analysis to generate conclusions and drive project directions.
- Communicate results effectively (oral and written) to key stakeholders.
- Understand customer needs through literature review, technology assessments, and ethnographic research.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to develop technology solutions that address prioritized unmet needs.
- Degree in engineering (biomedical, mechanical, etc.) or science discipline (chemistry, biology, etc.). Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience:
PhD, MS + 2 years of relevant industry experience, or BS + 4 years of relevant industry experience is required. - Experience in experimental design, data analysis, statistics, and technical writing.
- Experience working within a matrixed organization is preferred.
- Ability to plan and conduct scientific experiments and analyze, interpret, report, and present results.
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams and influencing without direct reporting ties.
- Experience with in vivo animal models and medical device development.
- Ability to translate problem statements into study strategy.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in program priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and teamwork.
- Experience working under a quality system.
- Knowledge of drug delivery systems.
- Image processing and analysis.
- Programming (Python, Matlab) and/or 3D modelling (Solid Works or equivalent).
- Knowledge of statistics and use of statistical packages.
The candidate is expected to work in a research lab environment and may require working with chemicals, in vivo models, and biological materials (blood, tissues, etc.).
Work days are Monday - Friday
