Two (2) part‑time vacancies available to start Fall semester.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Dean of STEM, develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of daytime or evening Civil Engineering courses. May require teaching courses at multiple MATC campuses, business, and community, including online and virtual modalities. Additional duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non‑traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, outcome assessment, quality review, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned.
Must remain current with industry trends and technologies.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance.
- Advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program/department area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and promote educational opportunities at MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program/department evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree such as Structural Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering.
- Associate's Degree (AAS) in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Land Surveyor License from the State of Wisconsin.
- Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of work experience in the Civil Engineering or Technology field. At least one (1) year of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.
- OR one (1) year of teaching Civil Engineering coursework at the post‑secondary level within the last five (5) years.
- Surveying Engineering experience highly preferred.
- A Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor license from the State of Wisconsin is preferred.

- Online Information Management Systems – Experience with Self‑Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course management systems.
- Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
