Job Description
We are looking for a Materials Engineer to be part of the Chemistry & Materials Engineering group. Your responsibilities include supporting the selection, modification, improvement, and troubleshooting of different fabrication processes used in industrial products, including metal and polymer. You will become a technical subject matter expert, defining critical requirements for new processes and collaborating with engineers and scientists to evaluate material properties and ensure process integrity.
You will serve as a liaison between our manufacturing plants and the analytical lab to use lab results to aid production, reporting to the Senior Manager, Chemistry & Materials and Product Performance Testing.
- Be a materials technical contact for our processes.
- Define, maintain, and create material and process specifications.
- Analyze materials in a laboratory setting to troubleshoot issues and optimize performance.
- Partner with internal teams, including Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Development Engineers to evaluate material properties, specify materials or processes, help improve processes, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; sponsorship of employment visas is not available.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years experience in an industrial manufacturing, fabrication, or laboratory environment.
- Experience with common metal forming, heat treating, and joining processes, including plating and coating technologies.
- Understanding of critical-to-quality process parameters.
- Experience with instruments used in qualification testing and the interpretation of resulting data, for example: SEM, XRF, microscopy, environmental and mechanical testing.
