What you will accomplish as a Electronic Technician at TAPCO:

The Electronics Test Technician Co-Op supports both engineering and production activities by assisting with electronic product testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and validation activities. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while supporting product quality, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position is designed for students pursuing a degree in engineering, engineering technology, electronics, or a related field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic products and systems.
  • Support engineering and production teams with product performance evaluations and testing activities.
  • Collect, record, and analyze test data while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Assist in developing and updating work instructions, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support calibration and maintenance of test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Perform production testing and verification activities according to established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot basic electronic assemblies and components under the guidance of engineering staff.
  • Assist with product safety, quality, and regulatory testing activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Interest in electronics, engineering, manufacturing, or technology.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components, circuits, and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and technical instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Education and Experience
  • Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Previous coursework, projects, internships, or hands-on experience involving electronics, testing, or troubleshooting is preferred but not required.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and measurements.
  • Ability to record and interpret test results accurately.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and follow technical instructions in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and apply them in a manufacturing environment.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with engineering software, testing equipment, or data collection systems is a plus.
