Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will join a project team tasked with the responsibility for all technical and engineering aspects of the project. You will lead daily coordination between clients, trade partners, engineers, architects, and employees. The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, predicting, and managing all technical tasks to assure accuracy, proper resources, and quality for the lifecycle of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Project Managers in purchasing activities including scoping and take-offs.
  • Prepare and forward submittals; confirm submittal complies with plans/specifications.
  • Support development and updating of the project schedule and subcontractor detail schedules.
  • Play a lead role in the development of project plans.
  • Monitor and expedite material deliveries ensuring all deliveries conform with the project schedule.
  • Review change proposals from trade partners and negotiate as appropriate.
  • Facilitate coordination of drawings with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Draft change orders.
  • Solicit prices from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Perform scope take-off and estimate costs.
  • Lead close out of the project; include assembling manuals and warranties for turnover to owner and preparing final payment documents for subcontractors.
  • Develop and lead training sessions for the team and trade partners.
  • Take ownership of document management applications.
Basic Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline or relevant work experience.
  • 3‑5 years of experience in an engineer, project engineer, or a similar role in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.
  • Demonstrated ability reading drawings and specifications.
  • Computer proficient including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for an electrical contractor on large‑scale construction.
  • Familiarity reading drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Primavera.
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience on mass transit and rail, highway, water, aviation, or other infrastructure projects.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Active, hands‑on role: frequent standing, navigating uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, hoists.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work.
  • Desk‑time for computer work, document review, meetings.
  • Adaptable to all weather conditions, moderate to loud noise, elevated or confined spaces, and fast‑paced project environments.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $80,000–$90,000. Compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
