As a Project Engineer for Metalcraft of Mayville, you will be instrumental in product design from concept to production, taking complete ownership of design and validation. The Project Engineer is responsible for planning and executing technical engineering activities to ensure each project is completed at a competitive price, on schedule, and meets or exceeds the specified requirements. Projects include attachments for our compact construction equipment such as buckets, grapples, trenchers, stump grinders, and augers.
We need an excellent communicator who is self‑motivated and can multi‑task in a fast‑paced team environment. You will need exceptional analytical skills for problem solving, design experience in relevant fields, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to support the product through the design cycle and into production.
Responsibilities- Ability to design with consideration of project team direction, product industry trends and developments, user experience, and safety and environmental standards.
- Structural, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and/or control system design.
- Product research and defining details of new product or product improvements.
- Create, modify, and analyze the engineering design of assigned projects, products, systems, and/or components.
- Optimize product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability.
- Manage design records.
- Hands‑on prototype builds, product testing planning and execution, and assessment of tested product to evaluate what worked and what didn’t.
- Work with manufacturing to ensure successful implementation and launch of new product introductions.
- Work with manufacturing and Quality Control teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Create and manage Engineering Change Notices.
- Prepare manuals and assist Marketing with sales documentation.
- Leadership skills within the Attachment Engineering team and other teams.
- 3‑D CAD modeling and drawing creation using CREO.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A combination of 5–10 years of relevant experience in product design and manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and critical thinking applied to attachment or similar product design.
- Able to work on own initiative but also contribute as a team member within Engineering and other cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to transform conceptual ideas into practical and manufacturable solutions.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- CAD drafting/modeling proficiency;
Creo preferred. - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience.
