Job Summary:
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for emergency repairs, testing, modifications, commissioning, and warranty service on low and medium voltage electrical power distribution and control equipment and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for hands‑on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of power delivery and generator equipment. Power delivery includes transformers, switch gear, circuit breakers, busways, Uninterruptable Power Sources (UPS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Protective Relays, Power Management Control systems and other power related equipment & controls.
- Troubleshooting and operation of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Installation, troubleshooting, and design of 480
VAC/12.47
KVAC, switch gear, ATS, circuit breakers and generator system controls. - Troubleshooting of various Diesel isochronous governing systems controlling engine‑generators and circuit breakers.
Inspections, testing and repair on low and medium, voltage power control systems and distribution switchboards.
- Provide customer technical support and training on related system equipment.
- Prepare and maintain detailed design markup documents, reports, checklists, test reports, MOPs, SOPs, SOOs, and electrical drawings.
- Integrate system controls with customer SCADA systems utilizing industry protocols (Modbus, DNP, BACnet, etc.).
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws. A working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety rules, laws and regulations concerning job site and electrical safe work practices.
RequirementsQualifications:
- 3+ years in Field Service Engineering is desired.
- Electrical Engineering (BS or AS preferred) experience and/or prior military service performing applicable job duties.
- Electrical licensing is helpful but not required.
- Power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong background in electrical power including low voltage through medium voltage and experience with most types of switch gear testing required.
- Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs.
- Reading schematics and blueprints for power control, automation and customer technical support.
- Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills (keyboarding, email, internet, database experience, etc.), and experience with diagnostic software and service report writing.
- Applicant must have a working knowledge of applicable industry standards ANSI/NETA, IEEE, NFPA, and UL.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
