Senior Electrical Engineer - Power

Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer – Power will lead electrical engineering and design of power plant systems for projects, working collaboratively with PEC electrical engineering and design staff. The role is responsible for all aspects of electrical design on specific projects, supported by other members of the company and under the supervision of Principal Engineers or Senior Electrical Consultants.

• Develop detailed schematics and electrical equipment specifications (transformers, switch gear, motor control centers, battery systems, etc.).
• Design electrical equipment layouts and select appropriate cabling, conduit and cable‑tray configurations.
• Create cable routing plans and prepare engineering documents for construction and operation.
• Build electrical system models using ETAP and evaluate voltage drops, short‑circuit currents, and grounding systems.
• Perform necessary electrical calculations.
• Review vendor drawings and incorporate them into plant design.
• Select and specify electrical components such as breakers, disconnect switches, switch gear, cables, and lighting system components.
• Participate in project reviews, design checks, and quality‑assurance steps to ensure alignment with client expectations.
• Lead coordination efforts to resolve interface issues between mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical design disciplines.
• Maintain professional registration in one or more states or obtain registration as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience (15 years preferred) in low‑ and medium‑voltage switch gear, utility interconnection, relay protection, and general electrical system design.
• Experience with load‑flow and coordination studies in ETAP.
• Strong background in electric machinery, circuit analysis, controls, logic systems, and power‑distribution system design.
• Strong project‑management and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Attention to detail.
• Professional registration in one or more states or ability to obtain registration.

• Travel: 5–15%
• Work Schedule:
  
  Typical hours 7:00a.m.–5:00p.m., Monday–Friday; work may be performed at any time to meet business needs.
