Your Role in Our Success

At PFERD as an Automation Engineer you will be responsible for helping maintain, build, and commission automation cells, and troubleshoot issues on existing automation. The individual will be heavily involved in every aspect of the automated life cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and commission new automation cells including:
  • Mechanical Assembly knowledge and experience preferred
  • Electrical
  • High voltage (480 VAC)
  • Low Voltage (120 VAC)
  • Schematic creation and panel layout
  • Pneumatic Installation
  • Create new PLC, HMI, and Robot programs to operate cells at expected rates and quality and facilitate ease of use for operators
  • Learn all aspects of the existing automated cells
  • Touch up robot points as necessary and/or add new points to improve routines
  • Adhere to safety policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years automation experience, Associate’s degree or, Bachelor’s degree in automation related field preferred
  • 3-5 years’ electrical experience in troubleshooting and/or installation
  • Robotics experience preferably Universal Robots, Yamaha, and Fanuc
  • Programming knowledge in PLC, HMI, SQL database, and Robotics
  • Working knowledge of electrical system design and layouts
  • Ability to identify and trouble shoot electrical/hardware issues
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work on projects that require very close attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, positive, and work well with others (Team player Required)
  • Knowledge of risk assessment common practices pertaining to machine safety/guarding
