- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D production drawings for off-road seating systems, components, and related hardware.
- Create and update engineering documentation including drawings (GD&T), BOMs, component specifications, design change records, and supporting product data.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, sales, and project teams to ensure designs meet product performance, manufacturability, cost, customer, and end-user requirements.
- Support design reviews, prototype builds, sample development, and fit/function evaluations for seats, seat structures, trim, cushions, brackets, and mounting components.
- Review component and product test results to confirm designs meet functional, performance, durability, safety, and customer requirements for off-road seating applications.
- Maintain accurate records of product designs, CAD models, drawings, revision history, and engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Comply with the Stage Gate product development process, engineering change processes, and applicable quality system requirements.
- Associate's degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of mechanical design, CAD drafting, product design, or related internship/co-op experience preferred; seating, vehicle, or off-road equipment experience a plus.
- Proficiency with CREO or similar parametric solid modeling software, including assemblies, part modeling, surface modeling, and drawing creation.
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to conceptualize design ideas, develop part and product designs, support engineering analysis, and apply practical problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple design tasks and project priorities in a timely manner.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This position is primarily office-based and requires regular interaction with engineering, prototype, manufacturing, and warehouse areas. The noise level is usually moderate; however, the position may enter manufacturing or warehouse portions of the facility where the noise level is louder and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required.
