Mechanical Engineer
This Mechanical Engineer role leads both Mechanical Engineering and Machining teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You oversee the full product development lifecycle—from concept and design through prototyping, testing, manufacturing, implementation, and validation—ensuring components meet customer requirements. You provide hands-on technical leadership, guide continuous improvement, and collaborate closely with operations staff on the shop floor to resolve design and process challenges.
Responsibilities- Lead the Mechanical Engineering and Machining teams by assigning workloads, managing projects, and ensuring deadlines and objectives are consistently achieved.
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to support continuous improvement, technical excellence, and professional growth.
- Participate in required meetings, presentations, and virtual collaboration sessions during core working hours of 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CST.
- Manage the complete product development lifecycle, including design, development, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, implementation, and validation of mechanical components to meet customer requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and subject matter guidance to resolve product design, manufacturing, and process-related challenges in a production environment.
- Create and maintain accurate 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software such as Solid Works.
- Utilize CAM software to develop efficient manufacturing processes and support production requirements for machining operations.
- Design tools and fixtures that improve manufacturability, quality, and throughput on CNC machines and other production equipment.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure proper tolerancing, fit, and function of components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with shop floor operations staff to troubleshoot issues, optimize machining processes, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
- Use strong project management skills to plan, prioritize, and track engineering activities and deliverables.
- Communicate effectively across engineering, machining, and operations teams to align expectations and drive successful project outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience working on the shop floor with operations staff to assist in solving manufacturing and process issues.
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proficiency in mechanical and manufacturing engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with tool and fixture design for production environments.
- Ability to design and support machining operations, including CNC machining.
- Proficiency with CAD software, specifically Solid Works, for 3D modeling and engineering drawings.
- Experience using CAM software to develop and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of GD&T to create and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Project management capabilities to lead engineering and machining initiatives from concept through implementation.
