Position: Staff Level Professional Engineer

A Staff Level Professional Engineer is responsible to:

  • Write, review, and update SPCC plans and SWPPP documents for various facilities
  • Walk through plant floors and yards to check for leak risks, faulty containment, or erosion problems
  • Work with corresponding federal and state agencies on plan submission and reviews
  • Train younger staff and potential client facility personnel on SPCC / SWPPP related items
  • Design and implement corrective actions as required
  • Perform field work consisting of soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling
  • Complete environmental investigation activities such as overseeing drilling activities, logging soil, and installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells
  • Complete Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Evaluate environmental data comparing data to state or federal clean-up standards
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and assess management of change requirements
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Geology, Science or related discipline
  • 5-10 years in environmental engineering or similar.
  • 5 plus years with SPCC / SWPPPs.
  • A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license within the Midwest is a plus, or the ability to obtain within three 3-6 months.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, as well as organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and independently within the company and with the customer, vendors, and associates.
  • Must be flexible to work different hours as needed by the department/business.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions performing physical labor as needed.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of government environmental compliance regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to respond to out-of-town projects as needed (10%)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Must pass a local, state, and federal background check
  • Must pass DOT physical including drug and alcohol screening
