Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services
BDO USA invites applications for the Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services role.
Job SummaryThe Tax Managing Director provides industry‑specific tax advice, evaluates alternative actions to reduce tax burden, and complies with federal and state tax regulations. The role is a primary client contact for complex tax issues, makes top‑level decisions on filing and agency questions, and supports the office/region leadership team. The director also participates in marketing, networking, and business development while maintaining client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Compliance:
Ensure client compliance with authorities and BDO policies while minimizing tax and reporting burdens. - Research:
Identify research needs, frame issues, and report analysis to the engagement team. - ASC 740 & FIN 48:
Apply firm standards to income tax provisions, including international and valuation allowance credit issues. - Tax Consulting:
Recommend efficient, effective tax solutions to maximize client benefits and reduce current and future taxes. - Tax Specialization:
Develop in‑depth knowledge of one or more tax areas (corporate, international, estate, etc.) and advise clients on implications. - Strategy Development:
Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve client, firm, or personnel positions. - Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers; review work; provide performance feedback; manage workload.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- 10+ years of prior tax experience in public accounting, private industry, or consulting.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- CPA, Attorney, or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) required; other professional degrees or certifications preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax research databases preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
