Job DescriptionThe Independence Team under Risk Management is responsible for understanding, communicating, and ensuring the Firm’s and its professionals’ compliance with the relevant independence rules including but not limited to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), as well as Baker Tilly independence policies. This position includes conducting consultations with the Firm’s practitioners to ensure independence is not impaired.
Responsibilities- Consulting with principals and managers concerning independence issues.
- Analyzing services and relationships between the firm and clients and applying the relevant independence rules to assess the impact on the firm’s independence.
- Analyzing complex corporate trees and private equity structures to identify affiliates of clients based on the applicable independence rules.
- Researching relevant independence guidance of the AICPA, SEC, and PCAOB.
- Ensuring consultations are answered on a timely basis in the Firm’s hotline database and that the documentation is thorough.
- Drafting independence memorandums when necessary to document considerations and conclusions regarding independence matters.
- Participate on special projects when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 3+ year(s) experience required in audit independence.
- Ability to learn software systems and research tools.
- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or in coordination with other professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate with diverse personalities in a tactful and mature manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The compensation range for this role is $98,230 to $186,220. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
