My client iis looking for a Controller to join their finance leadership team in Milwaukee. This is a high impact role for an experienced accounting and finance professional who thrives in an operationally focused, industry environment. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep technical accounting knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to accuracy and process excellence.
What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Manage the month end and year end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes; provide insightful variance analysis and recommendations.
- Develop, implement, and strengthen internal controls and financial policies.
- Direct and mentor the accounting team including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions.
- Partner with senior leadership to support strategic planning, operational decision-making, and business performance improvement.
- Coordinate external audits and tax engagements; prepare schedules and respond to inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and support tax planning initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or leadership roles — industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands‑on experience with GAAP financial reporting.
- Proven experience developing and improving accounting processes and controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems; experience implementing or optimizing financial systems a plus.
- Strategic mindset with ability to think critically and coach team members.
