Job Overview
The Accounting Manager reports directly to the North America Controller on the Global Finance Operations (GFO) & Controllership Team. The role is responsible for accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting submissions for North America, leading 2-3 accounting professionals based in Milwaukee, WI and collaborating with peers to achieve objectives.
Responsibilities- Manage the general ledger month‑end close activity for North America, reviewing adjusting journal entries and related financial information.
- Review account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Develop accounting staff, maintain high employee engagement, and focus on mentoring and training.
- Assist the North America Controller to ensure compliance with external and internal reporting requirements, including audit requests.
- Identify continuous improvement projects and support the implementation of enhancements to existing systems and processes.
- Build relationships and provide exceptional service to finance and business stakeholders, responding to feedback and issues.
- Assist with the transfer of workload to Rockwell Finance Centers of Excellence and integration into the company’s standard processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
- Typically requires 2 years of management experience.
- CPA with public accounting firm experience and exposure to global industrial companies.
- In‑depth understanding of US GAAP, accounting transactions, balance sheet and income statement preparation, revenue recognition, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and journal entries.
- Experience establishing and maintaining a sound internal control environment through business transformation.
- Experience with Integrated ERP systems such as SAP, Epicor, or Workday and the Oracle EPM suite (Financial Consolidation and Close, Account Reconciliations, Journal entries).
- Experience identifying areas for process improvement through digitization and automation.
- Willingness to participate in a hybrid work team.
