Base pay will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience. Temporary associates are not benefit eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Responsibilities

Prepares and reviews federal, state, and local tax returns for all Brookdale corporate and partnership entities; oversees appeals, sales tax returns, and other corporate filings.

  • Prepares and reviews analysis of tax adjustments and general ledger allocations.
  • Prepares and reviews federal tax returns for corporate and partnership entities.
  • Assists with quarterly and annual tax provision for consolidated group and stand‑alone reporting.
  • Assists with fixed asset records regarding capitalization or expense for tax purposes, determines tax lives, methods, and conventions, and prepares quarterly and annual roll‑forward and gain/loss analysis.
  • Main point of contact for Corp Tax software to prepare and electronically file tax returns; utilizes computer software for tax research, calendar system, and tax planning.
  • Participates in department discussions by bringing different perspectives to current procedures and processes.
  • Actively participates in daily discussions to promote a team atmosphere.
  • Provides technical guidance to Tax Analysts, reviews their work and gives informal feedback.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications and Licenses

CPA or MST a plus.

Management/Decision Making

Uses limited independent judgment to make decisions based on precedents and established guidelines. Solves problems using standard procedures and precedents. Knows when to refer issues to the supervisor and when to handle them personally.

Knowledge and Skills

Working knowledge of Excel and Word. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Uses current and developing technology and tools to enhance processes and procedures. Respects and protects confidential company information. Maintains a professional development plan to continually develop technical skills. Corptax Tax Software knowledge a plus.
