Job Overview
Responsible to manage strategic client relationships in Business Banking including managing an existing portfolio of businesses and acquiring new business. Clients generally range from $1 MM to $10 MM in annual revenue. Generate, retain, and expand lending, investment, and deposit relationships with new and existing clients through referrals, centers of influence, and direct prospecting. Provide insight and ideas for enhancing client relationships, cash flow, profitability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Manage strategic client relationships, including existing portfolio and new business acquisition.
- Generate, retain, and expand lending, investment and deposit relationships with new and existing clients through referrals, centers of influence and direct prospecting.
- Develop, generate and follow up on new client leads through referrals and prospecting.
- Manage overall relationship profitability and portfolio risk, responsible for profitable growth of the portfolio (loans, deposits, fee income).
- Act as a consultant to clients and a resource to the Bank in developing and retaining business.
- Provide insights and ideas for enhancing client relationships, cash flow, profitability and efficiency.
- Manage overall credit quality of assigned portfolio: sales, credit analysis, loan structuring, interviews, note renewals, financial statement and collateral valuation reviews, cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, covenant monitoring, and reporting.
- Negotiate loan proposals, analyze and evaluate credit requests, write loan commitments, recommend credit grade, present to underwriter or loan committee, and implement approval/declination action.
- Serve as primary link for all financial services to the individual Business Banking client (Treasury Services, International, Trust, Cash Vault).
- Participate in community and professional activities to enhance bank image and expand personal network for new business development.
- Monitor accounts to identify potential credit problems and ensure proper loan documentation.
- Communicate and collaborate consistently and transparently with business banking teams and internal partners.
- Maintain CRM usage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years proven business banking sales experience.
- Strong strategic sales knowledge selling to small business owners.
- Proficient level of business banking product knowledge and product innovation.
- Knowledge of market and industry trends.
- Ability to source and produce efficient credit opportunities.
- Knowledge of credit and operational risk, ability to quantify potential exposure and advise team.
- Understanding of credit underwriting and commercial lending practices, loan documentation, and loan servicing requirements.
- Knowledge of financial analysis, including ratio and trend analysis and projections.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
