The mission of the Denver Park Rangers is to maximize public safety, protect park resources, and provide service to visitors. Park Rangers patrol mountain and urban parks daily by foot, bicycle, and vehicle, assisting local law enforcement and the fire department in emergencies and hazardous situations.

Salary range: $27.89–$43.23 per hour, depending on education and experience. Eligible employees may earn shift differentials: 12% for night shifts, 7% for evening shifts. A flexible 4‑ or 5‑shift week is available.

Positions require weekend, night, and holiday work. Hours may vary. Districts to be filled include Night Operations and Trails District (locations to be determined).

• Patrol urban parks through motorized and non‑motorized means to protect public safety and park resources.
• Perform visual surveillance and assessment of park facilities to ensure compliance.
• Provide outreach and options for people experiencing homelessness.
• Interpret rules and regulations, and provide education to park visitors to encourage proper use of urban parks.
• Enforce permit compliance, manage conflicts, issue warnings and citations, and represent the department at public events.
• Report hazardous conditions, accidents, and assist with medical emergencies.
• Provide information to the public about facilities and resources, and resolve problems and complaints concerning park quality and visitor conduct.

• Associate degree in Recreation, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field (equivalencies possible). At least one year or two seasons of park experience in public relations, natural science, open space, or regulations compliance.
• Valid driver’s license and Denver Parks and Recreation Enforcement Official Certification upon completion of the Ranger Training Program.
• Certifications:
  
  CPR/First Aid, Naloxone, Wilderness First Aid/Responder, Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG). Must maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Knowledge of Vistelar or other designated training; verbal defense certification required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GPS units.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
