Join our team which is committed to the delivery of the highest quality healthcare service. We are seeking a Patient Financial Counselor who is self‑motivated, energetic, and a take‑charge individual.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with applying and understanding the Sliding Fee Program, Badger Care Plus, or related programs in the client’s language or with interpretation services.
  • Work closely with outside agencies/organizations to assist and advocate for clients with difficult or complex issues relating to Badger Care Plus, ACA, or the Sliding Fee Program.
  • Internal and external outreach activities regarding the availability of the Sliding Fee Program, Badger Care Plus, Affordable Care Act, and related programs.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed accurate documentation required for eligibility, consistent case coordination, follow‑up, and review of cases with Sliding Fee Scale, Badger Care Plus, or related programs in the organization’s Practice Management software.
  • Responsible for attending and retaining information related to educational and training opportunities for the Sliding Fee Program, Badger Care Plus, and additional programs as required.
  • Answer all inquiries (phone, electronic, in‑person) relating to patient billing questions, patient/insurance‑related questions, Sliding Fee Program, Badger Care Plus, Affordable Care Act, and any other internal or external payment options/programs.
  • Receive and respond to all collection agency vendors, attorneys, or others concerning patient accounts.
  • Work with a collection agency to refer patient accounts and report payments.
  • Document all interactions in the EHR clearly, concisely, and accurately to facilitate a comprehensive and accurate account history.
  • Accept payments, set up payment plans, and, where applicable, complete daily site deposits and maintenance of site change funds.
  • Work closely with other departments within the Revenue Cycle to answer patient concerns and questions fully and accurately.
  • Display empathy and understanding when interacting with patients, maintaining composure in difficult situations.
  • Provide Medicaid / Badger Care enrollment assistance.
  • Process and apply the Sliding Fee scale application.
  • Qualifications:
  • Healthcare insurance experience; strong understanding of insurance preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and office applications software.
  • Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
