Base pay range

$22.50/hr – $33.75/hr

Major Responsibilities
  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab‑related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Conducts point‑of‑care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order and completes CLIA‑approved waived laboratory tests and diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following medication‑administration rights.
  • Performs other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
  • Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
  • Maintains a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately; keeps equipment and supplies in working order and areas appropriately stocked.
  • May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
  • May serve as a role champion or on a committee.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and can assess data reflective of a patient’s status to provide age‑appropriate care per department policies and procedures.
Education – Greater Charlotte
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or qualifying military training (clinical nature per DD214) in lieu of a formal program or EMT.
Education – IL/WI Divisions
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full‑time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
Education – Wake Forest
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or qualifying military training as per DD214 in lieu of a formal program or EMT.
Education – Floyd & Navicent
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or structured military training (clinical nature) per DD214 in lieu of a formal program or EMT.
Certification / License – Greater Charlotte
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment.
  • Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following national organizations: AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA, AMT, NAHP, NRMA.
  • Successful completion of a system‑approved program to become a primary trainer for new teammates.
Certification / License – IL/WI Divisions
  • BLS certification (AHA) required within 45 days unless otherwise determined.
  • Certification or registration as a CMA or RMA by one of the following: AAMA, CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), CMAC, or AMCA.
Certification / License – Wake Forest
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • AAMA, AMT, AAH, NHCWA, NHA, MCMA, NAHP, NRMA certifications acceptable.
  • PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization) may be required within one year for select areas.
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment.
  • Professional practice advancement through roles such as safety coach, super‑user, vaccine coordinator, or OSHA/IP certificate holder.
  • Achievement of 6 points from additional market responsibilities.
Certification / License – Floyd & Navicent
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification/registration accepted.
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment.
