Position: MAMMO TECHNOLOGIST-BREAST SONOGRAPHER - MAMMOGRAPHY

Aspirus Wausau Clinic in Wausau, WI is seeking a Mammographer Technologist – Breast Health to join our team!

Performs breast imaging procedures including, but not limited to the following:

  • Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure performed, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed physician.
  • Prepares patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates breast imaging equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination, explaining the need for breast compression during mammography.
  • Determines radiographic technique exposure factors.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
  • Evaluates mammograms or other breast images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed physician with interventional procedures such as needle localizations, aspirations, biopsies and galactograms.
  • Performs radiography of pathologic breast specimens.
  • Understands methods and is capable of providing or assisting with physical breast exam or palpation.

HOURS:

Full-Time or .8 FTE, 64 hours every pay period. Varied day hours, Monday - Friday

Experience/Qualifications
  • Knowledge of radiology standards and procedures as they relate to mammography procedures normally acquired through graduation from an approved radiology school, an associate degree in Radiology, or sufficient on-the-job training to meet ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification requirements.
  • Meets FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) mandated requirements.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in diagnostic imaging is beneficial to enhance and develop skills preferred but not required.
  • ARRT® required.
  • ARRT®(M) required.
  • State of Wisconsin Licensed Radiographer license (WI Locations only)
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin, and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.

  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Analytical skills are necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of mammography techniques and methods in order to obtain quality images.
  • Site specific competencies in protocols, equipment, computer systems and applications.
