Position Overview

Under the supervision of a staff pharmacist, the technician is responsible for providing technical support to pharmacists at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. This includes, but is not limited to, the preparation, packaging, and delivery of medications for both inpatients and outpatients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, package, and deliver medications for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Operate automated dispensing unit functions, generate lists, process medication orders, enter charges/credits, and generate labels.
  • Retrieve patient information and handle automated dispensing unit functions.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital personnel and families, gathering and exchanging factual pharmaceutical information.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a pharmacy tech program preferred.
  • Licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Wisconsin.
  • One year of experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure due to time constraints and varying workloads.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer use for medication order entry, charge/credit processing, and patient information retrieval.
Physical Requirements
  • Walk and stand up to 80% of the work time.
  • Push, pull, and lift weights up to 30 pounds for up to 25% of the work time. This is required when exchanging unit dose carts and stocking pharmacy areas.
