POSITION SUMMARY

Guide the on-site health team in keeping camp healthy and happy by providing basic first aid and medication administration, responding to routine health concerns, and supporting campers and staff with care, warmth, and attention to detail.

POSITION AVAILABILITY

This position is an onsite, overnight position and must be available the following dates:

  • Staff Orientation:
    June 17 - 24
  • Session 1:
    June 27 - July 8
  • Session 2:
    July 11 - 22
  • Session 3:
    July 25 - August 5
  • Teen Camp and Camp Clean-up:
    August 8 - 13
  • Family Camp:
    August 14 - 16
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
  • Lead the on-site camp health team in managing the camp health center and providing basic first aid and medical support to campers and staff.
  • Provide Health Assistants with ongoing informal feedback as well as formal coaching conversations.
  • Be on call up to 22 hours a day when assigned in order to serve as a first responder to all medical incidents at camp.
  • Develop and implement a working knowledge of the organization’s Standing Treatment Orders and first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • Provide guidance for camp employees on daily health monitoring of participants, basic first aid, the organization’s medical policies and procedures, and risk management related to health issues.
  • Review the health forms of all participants and employees to ensure they are complete and there is a plan for addressing and supporting ongoing medical issues.
  • Maintain complete and objective documentation of all medical incidents and health care provided.
  • Supervise the inventory, use, and distribution of medical supplies and medications at the health center and in first aid kits throughout camp.
  • Submit supply orders as needed and adhere to the summer health center budget.
  • Communicate effectively with both staff and caregivers regarding participant health issues, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information as appropriate.
  • If a camper cannot reside in their cabin due to a health challenge, the Health Coordinator will spend the night outside of their normal sleeping arrangements to be able to supervise and support that (or those) camper(s).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$800 per week
, pre-tax.

Summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

All meals are provided during camp sessions.

  • Possess strong communications skills and apply them with coworkers and supervisors, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive staff and camper information when necessary.
  • Ability to perform job duties in a fast-paced environment and able to embrace change and be flexible.
  • Ability to provide job coaching constructively to team members.
EDUCATIONAL, CERTIFICATIONS, & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (PEAK can support in attaining).
  • Must be able to pass PEAK’s motor vehicle background check and driver training and safely drive/transport adults and children in PEAK vehicles, including a 12-passenger van.
