Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

A Medical Assistant provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with clinic-specific tasks, including rooming, vitals, injections, and point-of-care testing and treatment. The Medical Assistant follows Madison Medical specific standards of practice, policies and procedures. This full time position reports to the Clinic Supervisor/Assistant Director of Clinic Operations, is across various specialties, and is located in Milwaukee, WI

What You’ll Do:
  • Escorts patients to exam room as scheduled, completes brief history through appropriate documentation, and obtains accurate vital signs.
  • Stays current on electronic health records (EHR) changes and ensures appropriate and effective documentation in patient records.
  • Ensures excellent and timely care for patients – manages phone calls and messages efficiently, checks EHR and email regularly.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms and maintains a clean, safe, and well stocked environment.
  • Administers routine medications, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins and topical agents.
  • Provides basic patient education.
  • Refills medications or obtains prior authorizations according to MD protocols or as directed by physician.
  • Schedules appointments as needed.
Key Qualifications & Characteristics
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program, or military equivalent, or demonstrated skills in capacity for at least one year
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applications
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Strong and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physicians
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a team
  • Drive to provide excellent patient service and care in an environment with significant and frequent opportunities to effectively resolve problems and conflict situations
