Social Services is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Clinician to join our Crisis Response Team, providing overnight community-based assessments and interventions for youth and adults experiencing mental health or AODA crises. As a Licensed Clinician, you will conduct in-person psychosocial assessments during 3rd shift hours (12:00 AM – 7:30 AM), determine levels of risk, and provide crisis intervention to de-escalate and stabilize individuals. You will use your clinical expertise to make recommendations about Emergency Detention holds and connect individuals and families with needed resources.
What You’ll Do:- Conduct psychosocial assessments of youth and adults to evaluate risk and determine dangerousness to self or others
- intervene in acute mental health or AODA crises within the community, including situations involving police presence
- De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crises while ensuring safety
- Make recommendations regarding Chapter 51 Emergency Detention holds based on assessments
- Collaborate with Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services, hospitals, law enforcement, CART teams, and other community partners
- Provide education to families and community stakeholders on crisis management and mental health services
- Complete thorough, detailed documentation of all assessments, interventions, and recommendations
- Ensure compliance with all organizational, legal, and contractual requirements
- Attend meetings, training, and professional development activities as directed
- Fulfill mandated reporting duties related to child and adult safety
- Support the team by taking on additional responsibilities as assigned
- Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, or a related field required
- Valid Wisconsin State licensure, free of limitations, must be certified or licensed to work as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT
- Active professional liability insurance policy ($1,000,000 per claim / $1,000,000 aggregate)
- Availability to work 3rd shift (12:00 AM – 7:30 AM) for mobile crisis response
- Available to sign up for a minimum of four shifts per month.
- Prompt submission of compliance documents within specified time frames to ensure regulatory requirements and maintain smooth workflow processes.
- Strong cultural competency and ability to work respectfully with diverse individuals and families
- Excellent crisis management, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly desirable
- Reliable transportation, valid Wisconsin driver’s license, and state‑minimum auto insurance (must meet La Causa driving standards)
- Must successfully pass all required background checks, TB test, physical, and vaccination requirements
- This position involves community‑based mobile crisis response, requiring frequent travel throughout Milwaukee, as well as office‑based documentation.
