Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor – Full-Time

Office of Emergency Management

Hourly Rate: $32.01 - $48.01

The Office of Emergency Management's (OEMs) mission is the protection of lives and property through exacting communications to decision-makers, with the total coordination of resources, on-location and on-time, not only during a crisis but daily. OEM uses the “whole community” approach; meaning collaborative preparedness activities among public and private entities which are data-driven, thereby sustaining a local alliance of partners who offer unique contributions to resiliency.

Summary

The Full Time EMS Instructor will create, prepare and deliver educational content to the local EMS system providers, with utmost professionalism. Instructors will also gain a basic knowledge of QA processes and solution implementation. Clinician Development Unit field time, ARC program, standard care guideline development, procedure research and accurate record keeping are essential functions of the OEM EMS Instructor.

Position Duties
  • Develop content, review it with medical direction and deliver the content to the system using the various means of reaching our EMS partners. Ensure accurate scheduling and recording of courses, classes and activities.
  • Instructors will foster a culture of continuous professional growth and shared accountability, by operating Paramedic level educational fly cars as determined by OEM leadership.
  • Collaborate with MCW Medical Direction, OEM QA/Data plus other strategic partners to gain access to academic resources. Follow the QA and Data workflows to identify trends in the EMS system.
  • Assist the Clinician Development Manager with instructor/class records, issuing cards, and answering questions about ARC policies and procedures.
  • Instructors will participate in systems organization (department operational growth) and EMS pertinent individual professional development as assigned by leadership.
  • Situational projects based on the needs of the Office of Emergency Management leadership.
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Current resident of State of Wisconsin
  • Valid United States driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment
  • At least 60 college credits in Sciences or Education, or equivalent professional EMS experience
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications including word processing and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge of medical equipment and EMS Training Manikins
  • Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications…
