Phlebotomist I

Role Overview:

The phlebotomist is responsible for verifying patient identification, performing venipuncture, and collecting specimens from patients of all ages following established protocols.

• Ensure proper specimen labeling and resolve identification or requisition issues.
• Assist with specimen receipt, sorting, and additional procurement requests.
• Order, verify test requests, and maintain documentation for quality assurance.
• Manage inventory, answer calls, and support billing and other administrative functions.
• Instruct staff and students in phlebotomy and data entry.
• Provide patient care tailored to age-specific needs, demonstrating understanding of growth and development principles.

• High School diploma; no experience required.
• Basic computer, keyboarding, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and deliver excellent customer service.

• Operate necessary equipment; lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; handle human blood and body fluids.
• Perform duties sitting, standing, walking, and bending; wear appropriate protective gear as needed.
• Handle stressful situations professionally and maintain safety protocols.
