** JOB OBJECTIVE**:

Provide for the spiritual and emotional needs of all Saint John’s residents and for the employees as needed.
** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS**:1. Must be an ordained Episcopal clergy person eligible to work in the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee.
2. Must be able to perform the duties of a Chaplain. 4 units of clinical pastoral education preferred.
3. Two years of experience in pastoral ministry with individuals with a wide variety of physical and cognitive abilities, particularly older adults preferred.
4. Must have the ability to plan, organize and operationalize spiritual and emotional wellness programs for people from diverse cultural, educational, and spiritual backgrounds.
5. Must be able to work collaboratively with other team members, which may include both staff and residents.
6. Must be able to protect confidential information.
7. Must have computer knowledge to include Microsoft office, e-mail, and internet searches.
8. Must have excellent organization, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills, work well with a team-based approach, be patient, honest, enthusiastic, creative, flexible and exhibit a warm, cheerful, caring manner.
9. Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend and follow established procedures, be able to multi-task, and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES**:1. Serve as Saint John’s spiritual guide, ensuring that its culture, strategic decisions, programs, and practices remain faithful to its mission, values, and Episcopal identity and heritage.
2. Develops relationships with Tower residents and residents of Windsor, Stratford, Canterbury neighborhoods.
3. Develops and maintains knowledge about residents’ physical and mental health status.  Provide spiritual care and counseling for all residents and families as needed and desired.
4. Coordinate with hospice chaplains where appropriate.
5. Make hospital visits as needed.
6. Share on-call schedule with chaplain staff.
7. Plan and conduct regular services of worship and administer the Sacraments as appropriate.
8. Provide for all matters relating to the routine administration of Saint John’s Chapel and its liturgical life.
9. Arrange and conduct funerals and memorial services when requested after consultation with family members, and where appropriate, with the resident’s own clergy.
10. Plan and conduct Annual Service of Remembrance for all residents who have died within the year.
11. Develop, coordinate, and conduct or oversee opportunities for resident spiritual growth, both religious and non-religious.
12. Supervise Chaplain Staff to include evaluating performance utilizing written performance details and collaborative employee involvement/feedback process.
13. Supervise Chapel Musician to include evaluating performance utilizing written performance details and a collaborative employee involvement/feedback process.
14. Provides supervision of pastoral volunteers.
15. Participates in hands-on coaching, active listening, and in providing growth opportunities for employees that result in the overall success of the organization.
16. Provide support and spiritual care to staff as needed.
17. Provide spiritual counseling to employees as needed.
18. Work with staff to provide care for residents and other staff.
19. Establish annual goals and responsibilities toward meeting those goals.  Actively participate in criteria to determine goal success and end-of-year team goal assessment.
