The purpose of The Laundry Attendant at Hyatt Place Milwaukee/Downtown is to be responsible for the overall operation of the laundry facility and to ensure an adequate supply of clean linen is available in accordance with the hotel’s policies/procedures and the brand’s operating standards for guest satisfaction, quality, and safety and security. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, and strong customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Laundry Operations:
- Collect, sort, and classify soiled linens and garments by fabric type, color, and degree of soil.
- Pre-treat stains using approved chemicals and methods.
- Load and operate commercial washers, dryers, and finishing equipment according to standard procedures.
- Inspect items for cleanliness and damage; report or remove items requiring repair or replacement.
- Fold, press, or hang clean items as needed, ensuring neat and professional presentation.
- Inventory & Supply Management:
- Monitor linen and laundry supply levels; rotate stock and assist with inventory counts.
- Notify management of low inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies when necessary.
- Maintain organized storage areas for clean and soiled linen, ensuring clear labeling and accessibility.
- Guest & Departmental Support:
- Deliver clean linens and guestroom supplies to designated areas as requested.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest or staff requests related to laundry needs.
- Uphold a professional and service-oriented demeanor at all times.
- Facility Maintenance & Cleanliness:
- Clean and sanitize laundry machines and work areas daily to ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
- Remove and dispose of trash and lint regularly; maintain safe, clutter-free work spaces.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies including handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Be aware of security procedures and report any suspicious activity or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new laundry staff as needed.
- Work cooperatively with housekeeping and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Support public area cleanliness or housekeeping needs during downtime or as directed.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of linen carts and bags (up to 50 lbs).
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and repetitive movements.
- Ability to work in a warm and humid environment typical of laundry facilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Friendly demeanor and customer service skills.
- Prior experience in hotel laundry or housekeeping is preferred.
- Knowledge of laundry chemicals is an advantage.
