The HR Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the administration of employee benefits, leave of absence programs, and workers' compensation, while providing direct supervision and strategic guidance to the Employee Engagement Coordinator. This role ensures regulatory compliance, operational consistency, and a positive employee experience across the employment lifecycle. The HR Supervisor serves as a subject matter expert, escalation point, and people leader within the Human Resources team.
CoreResponsibilities
- Provide oversight and quality control for the administration of all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness programs.
- Serve as an escalation resource for complex benefits issues, employee concerns, and carrier-related challenges.
- Ensure accurate processing of enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA events in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Partner with Horizon leadership on benefits strategy, open enrollment planning, employee communications, and vendor management.
- Oversee and ensure compliant administration of all leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, military leave, and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves.
- Review and approve leave determinations, extensions, and return-to-work processes.
- Ensure proper documentation, tracking, and coordination with payroll, managers, and third-party administrators as applicable.
- Act as a resource to leaders and employees regarding leave rights, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Oversee workers' compensation claims administration, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and followup.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, managers, and employees to facilitate return-to-work and modified duty as appropriate.
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Employee Engagement Coordinator.
- Guide the planning and execution of engagement initiatives, recognition programs, wellness activities, and culture-building efforts.
- Employee Advocacy & Communication:
Gather feedback and suggest initiatives to improve employee satisfaction. - Culture & Engagement:
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. - Onboarding & Retention:
Help integrate new employees into the company culture; identify and address areas affecting employee retention and morale.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, communications, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with direct experience in benefits, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable employment and benefits regulations.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required, especially strong knowledge of Excel.
- ADP a plus.
- Current/Valid WI Driver's License; plus reliable/insured vehicle.
Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.
