The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department with a primary focus on benefits administration, leave of absence management, onboarding, and new hire orientation. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of employee benefits programs while serving as a trusted resource to employees and leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, state leaves).
  • Run day‑to‑day HR operational functions including onboarding, benefits enrollment, new hire orientation, and policy enforcement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear guidance on plan options, enrollment, eligibility, claims, and policy interpretation.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs, including benefits, leave administration, disciplinary actions, performance management support, talent processes, productivity tracking, and unemployment management.
  • Assist with annual benefits renewal processes by working closely with brokers, carriers, and vendors to evaluate plan options and ensure competitive offerings.
  • Analyze benefits data, participation rates, and costs to provide reporting, insights, and ROI metrics to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including FMLA, ACA, FLSA, ERISA, and applicable benefits regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Handle employment‑related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive issues to appropriate HR leadership.
  • Participate in salary surveys and market benchmarking studies to support competitive compensation and benefits package design.
  • Support the development and maintenance of equitable compensation structures aligned with market data and organizational strategy.
  • Review HR policies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance with legal requirements and recommended best practices.
  • Stay current on HR trends, benefits innovations, regulatory changes, and emerging HR technologies.
