Goodwill Talent Bridge, on behalf of our client, a nonprofit human services organization, is actively seeking a limited-term, HR Generalist. This position is expected to last anywhere from 6-8 weeks and will require you to work on site five days a week.
Key Responsibilities- Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and harassment allegations
- Leadership
Coaching:
Coach leaders on best practices for delivering constructive feedback, managing difficult conversations, and supporting healthy team dynamics - Conflict Resolution: Serve as a neutral mediator to resolve conflicts between employees or between staff and leadership, helping reduce tensions and foster positive working relationships
- Employee Advocacy: Act as a trusted resource for employees, ensuring concerns are heard, addressed promptly, and handled with professionalism and care
- Inclusive Workplace Support: Promote an inclusive, respectful workplace by supporting employee needs, partnering with managers on accommodations, and ensuring equitable practices
- Leave Administration: Oversee employee leave requests—including FMLA, disability, and personal leave—ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations and organizational policies
- Workers’ Compensation: Investigate and report workers’ compensation claims, ensuring timely follow‑up and adherence to legal and organizational requirements
- Unemployment Management: Respond to unemployment claims and represent the organization during unemployment hearings as needed
- Compliance: Ensure all recommendations and actions align with federal and state employment laws, internal policies, and organizational values
- Onboarding & Pre‑Employment: Manage pre‑employment processes such as background checks, references, and required documentation to ensure compliance with funder and organizational requirements
- Documentation Support: Assist leaders in drafting and reviewing corrective actions and disciplinary documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and legal compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field; HR certification (PHR, SHRM‑CP) is a plus!
- 3+ years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or a closely related field
- Proven experience navigating performance management processes

, and performance evaluations - Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
, including FMLA, ADA
, and Workers’ Compensation - Experience working within nonprofit, healthcare, social services, or similarly mission‑driven environments preferred
- Excellent communication
, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
