This is a full-time on-site role based in Milwaukee, WI. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a key contributor to payroll operations, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to organizational policies.
- Process payroll on a weekly basis for hourly and bi-weekly for salaried employees
- Maintain accurate payroll records: including wages, deductions, tax with holdings, and adjustments
- Ensure compliance with all payroll related laws, regulations, and internal controls
- Administer payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and retirement
- Maintain UKG and set up earnings/deduction codes as needed
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll mattersli>
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Finance regarding new hires, terminations, pay changes, and benefits deductions
- Support internal and external audits
- Responsible for year-end payroll activities
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by Controller
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated knowledge of payroll laws and regulatory compliance
- Proficient in MS Office Applications, including Word and Excel
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with UKG Pro Payroll Platform and Workforce Management
