Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with their leader in designing and executing compliance and risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of both new and existing controls across IT systems, applications, policies, or services throughout the university. Generate reports and address key findings and outcomes of assessment activities, the IT risk environment, and its related controls.
Support the development and ongoing enhancements of IT compliance and risk management systems, including, but not limited to: data loss prevention, third party risk management, and insider risk management. Monitor, investigate and remediate alerts to ensure adherence to regulatory and institutional standards.
Use analytics to track compliance metrics and key risk indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Pro-actively identify initiatives and changes at the university and assess their impact on the control environment and implement strategies to minimize them.
Contribute to the development, enhancements and delivery of training sessions to educate faculty, staff and students on compliance standards and risk management practices.
Build and sustain collaborative relationships with university departments and functional areas. Apply compliance expertise and institutional knowledge to provide practical, risk informed recommendations that support academic and administrative goals.
Draft, update and maintain internal policies and risk management frameworks to address evolving threats. Ensure accurate maintenance of compliance documentation within the university Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) software.
Develop and maintain up to date knowledge of compliance frameworks, as well as corresponding risks and controls related to higher education and relevant business process cycles.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in an applicable risk management or IT environment.
