Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a forward‑thinking, intellectually curious technical professional who enjoys solving business problems through Microsoft technologies. This highly visible role supports the stability, scalability, and strategic growth of Baird’s Enterprise Applications, with a primary focus on Azure, Microsoft 365, and platform‑level enablement and automation.

This engineer will collaborate across IT teams, act as a go‑to resource for new projects and troubleshooting and contribute significantly to the overall architecture of Baird’s infrastructure. The team is currently expanding so that senior engineers can focus on more strategic initiatives. New hires will receive strong support, onboarding, and mentorship.

This hybrid position is available in Milwaukee, WI or Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities
  • Build, configure, and administer Baird’s infrastructure with a primary focus on Microsoft technologies including Azure, Entra , and M365 services.
  • Investigate and evaluate new Microsoft cloud offerings, emerging technologies, and enterprise services to determine appropriate adoption and integration strategies.
  • Manage Azure Entra  for internal applications and third‑party vendors.
  • Configure and enable core services (Power Apps, Power BI, Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) including required security, governance, and connectivity.
  • Leverage automation to streamline infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and security processes.
  • Utilize scripting languages (Power Shell, Python) to automate repetitive tasks and enhance platform efficiencies.
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Bicep and/or Terraform.
  • Support CI/CD principles and Dev Ops workflows for infrastructure and application enablement.
  • Monitor enterprise services for performance, reliability, and capacity planning.
  • Participate in a 24x7 support environment and on‑call rotation.
  • Respond to and resolve issues submitted through Service Desk tickets.
  • Collaborate with IT Security and project teams to ensure compliance with Baird policies, governance models, and best practices.
  • Partner with business teams and “citizen developers” to help them leverage M365 and Power Platform tools safely and effectively.
  • Create documentation for designs, standards, and procedures.
  • Mentor other IT Operations team members and contribute to shared knowledge growth.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical experience with enterprise Microsoft platforms and cloud technologies.
  • Strong experience with Azure, M365, and cloud integration strategies.
  • Hands-on background with scripting and automation (Power Shell required).
  • Experience supporting enterprise‑level security, risk management, and governance.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure architecture, cloud integration models, and workflow diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to apply prior knowledge to new challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to influence and guide others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
