Data Security Engineer; No C2C

Data Security Engineer (No Sponsorship available, no C2C). This is a hybrid position. Relocation is available for the right candidate

Salary: $90,000–$125,000 per year

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Direct Hire Data Security Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain enterprise data protection strategies. This role focuses on safeguarding sensitive information across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring compliance, and reducing organizational risk through strong data security practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement standards, controls, and best practices for enterprise data security
• Design, develop, deploy, and manage data security solutions, including:
• Data governance and compliance tools
• Apply strong knowledge of:
• Data discovery and classification
• Encryption and masking
• Data tagging and governance frameworks
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate data security threats, including third-party cyber risk
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement data protection measures
• Provide subject matter expertise on data privacy, security strategy, and risk mitigation
• Track, measure, and report on data security KPIs
• Monitor and respond to data security incidents, driving corrective and preventive actions
• Regularly review and update data security policies and standards to align with evolving regulations and industry best practices
• Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, MIS, or a related field preferred
• Equivalent experience will be considered, including:
• Military cybersecurity experience
• Professional cybersecurity experience
• 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database design, or data architecture
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Advanced cybersecurity certifications such as:
• CISSP
• CISM
• OSCP
• CCSP
• GIAC certifications

Technical Skills (Nice to Have)

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Active Directory design and administration
• Scripting (Power Shell, .NET, VB, or C#)
• Security Operations Center (SOC) environments
• Network access management
• DNS and DHCP
• Enterprise data security tooling and practices
