Cloud Security Engineer; NO C2C

Cloud Security Engineer (no sponsorship or C2C); this is a hybrid position; relocation may be available for the right candidate.

Salary Range: $90,000–$125,000 per year

Position Overview

Our client is looking for a Direct Hire Cloud Security Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain secure cloud environments. This role focuses on protecting cloud infrastructure through layered defense strategies, automation, and continuous monitoring, while ensuring alignment with industry best practices and security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement security configuration standards and defense-in-depth strategies for cloud resources
• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions across cloud-based environments
• Develop, communicate, and enforce cloud security policies and procedures aligned with industry best practices and frameworks
• Implement and maintain security controls including network segmentation, data protection, intrusion prevention, and threat detection
• Automate security operations using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Configure and manage cloud-native security tools such as firewalls, encryption, and identity and access management (IAM) solutions
• Track, measure, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cloud security
• Collect, manage, and analyze security audit logs
• Monitor cloud environments for security incidents and vulnerabilities, and support response and remediation efforts
• Stay current on emerging threats, tools, and techniques related to cloud infrastructure security, networking, and automation
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve security issues and continuously improve overall security posture

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, MIS, Engineering, or a related field preferred
• OR an associate degree combined with military or professional cybersecurity experience and a relevant certification
• Acceptable certifications may include: CISSP, GIAC, MCSE, CEH, GICSP, CSSA, CISM (or similar)
• 2+ years of cybersecurity experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud and cybersecurity roles
• Strong knowledge of cloud security principles, architecture, and best practices (e.g., CIS, NIST)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
