STS Technical Services is hiring an IT Support Specialist to support a growing manufacturing operation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role blends Level 1 and Level 2 responsibilities and is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands on, solving problems end to end, and supporting both office users and manufacturing floor operations. You will serve as the first point of contact for technical issues while also owning more advanced troubleshooting and system support.
PositionSummary
The IT Support Specialist provides day-to-day technical support to office staff and manufacturing teams, resolves escalated issues, and ensures reliable operation of user endpoints and critical equipment. This role supports Windows environments, Office 365 applications, Active Directory tasks, and manufacturing floor devices while documenting solutions and maintaining consistent service quality.
Level 1 Responsibilities- Respond to help desk tickets, phone calls, and walk-up support requests
- Perform basic troubleshooting for printers, scanners, software issues, VPN and MFA access, network drive mapping, and Email or Outlook issues
- Handle password resets, account unlocks, and general user assistance
- Unbox, tag, and prepare hardware for deployment
- Assist with new hire onboarding and workstation setup
- Troubleshoot advanced issues involving Windows 10 and 11 environments
- Support Office 365 applications including Teams, Outlook, One Drive, and SharePoint access
- Diagnose and resolve desktop hardware issues
- Install, configure, and update software applications
- Image, deploy, rebuild, and reconfigure laptops and desktops
- Perform basic network troubleshooting including connectivity, switch ports, and Wi‑Fi issues
- Support manufacturing floor devices such as label printers, handhelds, and production terminals
- Manage Active Directory tasks including group access, workstation joins, and user updates
- Document resolutions, processes, and common fixes to support knowledge sharing
- One to four plus years of IT support, helpdesk, or desktop support experience
- Strong understanding of Windows desktop operating systems
- Experience supporting Office 365 applications
- Working knowledge of basic Active Directory tasks
- Solid PC hardware troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and follow issues through to resolution
- Strong communication skills with a customer focused mindset
- Experience with endpoint management tools such as Intune, PDQ, SCCM, or similar platforms
- Basic Power Shell knowledge
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP
- CompTIA A Plus, Network Plus, or relevant Microsoft certifications
