The Planet Group has partnered with a Milwaukee, WI based company to locate a Network Engineer for a contract to hire role.
We're seeking a Network Engineer who will take ownership of the organization's core network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and secure connectivity solutions.
This role is ideal for a networking professional who enjoys balancing hands-on technical work with project leadership, infrastructure improvements, and mentoring less experienced team members.
The position will require five days a week onsite in Milwaukee to start but will eventually be a hybrid role with only two days a week onsite. As it is a contract-to-hire role, we can only accept candidates who do not require sponsorship of any kind either now or in the future.

Network Infrastructure- Design, implement, and support enterprise network environments across multiple locations.
- Administer and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and remote connectivity solutions.
- Configure and support routing, switching, and network segmentation technologies.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
- Support business-to-business connectivity and secure remote access services.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex LAN, WAN, wireless, and connectivity issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers on network-related initiatives.
- Manage firewall policies, access control lists (ACLs), VPNs, and network security controls.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to strengthen network security posture.
- Support vulnerability remediation and security best practices.
- Participate in incident response and network security investigations as needed.
- Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Collaborate with systems, security, and application teams to support organizational technology goals.
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and network design principles.
- Experience troubleshooting LAN, WAN, wireless, and remote connectivity environments.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and network security best practices.
- Experience supporting network upgrades, implementations, and operational improvements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with network monitoring and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with security monitoring, log analysis, and incident investigation.
- Exposure to VoIP technologies.
- Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco, or similar enterprise networking platforms.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or Security+.
