The Network Analyst is part of the Information Management Services Division (IMSD), which is responsible for all aspects of technology in Milwaukee County. The Network Analyst assists in designing, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IP addresses, communicating network information and requirements to connect hosts onto the network, and installing, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, other network devices and servers.

MUST BE CURRENT WI, 100% Onsite.
Responsibilities- Work with vendors to research emerging technologies and diagnose and resolve network problems.
- Utilize multiple tools to monitor the network to ensure optimum performance and to assist in troubleshooting issues.
- Maintain internet links, work with other Information Services units, faculty, and staff in the integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services; maintain documentation and database information; and work with Procurement Services in the preparation and evaluation of bid specifications for network hardware and software.
- Focus on the wireless infrastructure at the Milwaukee County Zoo: scout all buildings, document inventory of all devices (product type, model, function, vendor, etc.) per location, create a depository of images, review network diagrams, define IP schemes, current configuration protocols, and connectivity, and associate devices and applications to various vendor technologies present at the Zoo (e.g., JCI, Gateway POS, etc.).
- Contribute to the overall success of Information Services by performing other essential duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow technical instructions, and problem-solving using diagnostic techniques and protocols are essential.
- Thorough understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless systems.
- Familiarity with WAN, VPNs, multicast, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, IP management, and network monitoring tools is preferred.
The position reports to the Supervisor of Infrastructure Services and does not have any direct reports.
