As a Sales & Service Rep you will deliver quality service and insurance recommendations to current and prospective Markel customers. This is a combined service and sales role with the expectation that sales vs. service responsibilities will be split based on business needs. All sales leads are provided and there is no outbound cold calling.
Responsibilities- Work diligently to find resolution to customer concerns and escalate to appropriate level when necessary.
- Convey information efficiently, effectively, and appropriately to meet the needs of the customer.
- Strive for first call resolution to provide “best in class” service.
Sales & Service Representatives are required to stay current and knowledgeable of all procedures to ensure department standards and guidelines are met, which include Schedule Adherence, Quality Assurance, First Contact Resolution, Average Talk Time, Average Handle Time, Average Speed of Answer and Coding.
Qualifications / Skill Sets- Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment
- Dedicated to providing a positive customer experience
- Communicate clearly and professionally over the phone
- Strong technical background / ability to multi‑task in several systems at once
- Willingness to learn new material and systems/applications
- Accountable and reliable
- This position requires a Property & Casualty Insurance license
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college is a plus!
- 1 or more years of prior customer service experience preferred
- Demonstrated job stability and attendance records
- Solid computer, grammar and multi‑tasking skills
- Comfort with a high‑volume service center.
Must have Property & Casualty license to work remote outside of Markel office locations. Markel locations are Milwaukee, WI, Omaha, NE, Glen Allen VA, Henderson NV. If located near a Markel office location, a Hybrid work schedule is required.
MPL aka Personal Lines:Sales and Service
- Boats, Event (Weddings), E Bikes etc.
- Call center setting. Average of 30–40 inbound calls per day.
- 26 Staff Members | Sales – Hourly + Commission Based | Works with 1–2 System

7:00am – 8:30pm CST, Monday – Friday.

- $22/hr for non‑bilingual without any P&C Licenses.
- $23.50/hr for non‑bilingual with P&C Licenses (has to be commercial lines 220 P&C, see below)
- $23.50/hr for bilingual candidates without P&C license
- $25/hr for bilingual (Spanish/English) with 220 P&C license.
(5% annual bonus, 2–4% annual merit increase)
P&C License requirement: 220 License (General Lines Agent License) (Florida Only)This is the most comprehensive license for P&C insurance. It allows agents to sell and manage a wide range of insurance products, including commercial and personal property and casualty insurance. This license is ideal for those selling commercial P&C insurance.
US Work AuthorizationUS Work Authorization required. Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future.
Pay InformationThe base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job‑relevant education, job‑relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $20 - $25 per hour with a 5% bonus potential.
